June 7 – August 15

  • Walking to Win…Lake City – Wabasha Challenge. Walk to Win is a challenge between Wabasha and Lake City. It is about encouraging physical activity among young and old.  Participants can walk anywhere and anytime! The community that logs the most minutes walked in 10 weeks wins! Each participant wins by reducing risk factors for chronic disease and improving overall health. It's not too late to sign up. Registrations are still being accepted at Hope's Harvest, Home Traditions or by e-mail to walkinglakepepin@yahoo.com.   • Friday Night Cruise-In. Lake City Federal Bank parking lot, 201 E Marion St. 5:00P-8:00P. Classic cars will be on display.
  • Walk to Win-A Walk About Wabasha. Heritage park (Main Street-Under the Bridge) in Wabasha. 6:00P. the Fit City Footers invite the Walking Lake Pepin Team for an evening of physical fun - a walk, refreshments, and a free concert… After School Special. August 2 – Monday

  • Explorer Ships to Sail into Lake City Harbor. Lake City Harbor. 2:00P Weather permitting, the Pinta and the Nina, full-scale replicas of Columbus ships, will arrive at approximately 2:00P. Both ships will be touring together as a new and enhanced “sailing museum” for the purpose of educating the public and school children about the caravel, a type of Portuguese sailing ship used by Columbus and many early explorers to explore the world.   • Bluff View Student on the “Today Show.”  Broadcast locally on KARE 11 and KTTC 10. 8:40A Central Time.  Fifth grader student Nicholas Egan will appear with Al Roker on the “Today Show.” Egan will appear via interent video telephone service Skype

August 6 – Friday

·        American Cancer Society Relay for Life. Patton Park. Starts at 6:00P. This is a 12 hour event that celebrates the lives of those who have battled cancer and remembers those who have lost their life to the disease. The strength of survivors inspires others to fight. Proceeds from the relay fund research that finds treatment and cures.

·        Friday Night Cruise-In. Lake City Federal Bank parking lot, 201 E Marion St. 5:00P-8:00P. Classic cars will be on display.

  • Lake City School Board Candidate Night. Lincoln High School Media Center. 6:30P-8:00P. All those interested in running for the Lake city School Board, there will be an information session. Presenters will include administrators and school board members to discuss such topics as school finance and the current state of financing in Minnesota, student achievement and school improvement, and board structure and responsibilities.   • LCMC’s 10th Annual Golf Event. Jewel Golf Club. Shot-gun start at 1:00P. Proceeds from the event will support the renovation of LCMC’s nursing home. All are invited to participate by golfing and/or sponsoring a hole. [Flyer]

  • Walk To Win Challenge 2010 Finale.  First Lutheran Church, 100 Peace Ridge., Lake City. 7:00P. The communities of Lake City and Wabasha invite you to attend the “Walk to Win challenge 2010 Fiale. The guest speaker will be Bob Graham, Co-Chair of the AARP/Blue Zones Vitality Project in Albert Lea.  The Walk To Win trophy will be awarded to the community that walked the most minutes during the 10-week challenge.  There will be prize drawings for eligible walkers.  Refreshments will be served.   The public is invited.

August 21 – Saturday

  • Movie By Moonlight. Bluff View Elementary School Athletic field. Pre-entertainment begins at 7:30P. Movie starts at 8:30P. Free admission. Movie by Moonlight is an outdoor movie event organized by Lake City Better Futures (LCBF), a non-profit organization. It’s like having a drive-in movie but without the cars! A Hollywood movie will be shown on a 40 by 20 foot screen. The feature presentation for the movie will be chosen by the community. LCBF ask all interested members of the community to vote on one of three movie choices, with voting starting on July 22.   • 2nd Annual Hog Roast/Block Party. Bethany Lutheran Church, 525 S 6th St. 4:00P-7:00P.  Join them as they welcome their new Pastor at Bethany Lutheran Church. Entertainment by Cactus & Friends along with their own local talent. Serving Pork Sandwiches, baked beans, sweet corn, coleslaw, dessert and beverage. Door prizes and games. Free will donation. Everyone is welcome.

September 5 – Sunday

  • Funky Sidewalks. Downtown on Lyon Avenue. 9:00A-5:00P. Fun day of art, vintage goods, goodies, and funk. This event is not associated with any civic group. This event is sponsored by Treats and Treasures. There is no fee to be vendor. Vendors are screened and must pre-register with Jil at 651-345-2882 or jil@treatsandtreasureslc.com. Artists, artisans, farmers market, and antique/vintage goods, snacks.

All proceeds from this event will be used during the year to support, sponsor and respond to Lake City Area special community needs. As in the past, all valued items will be accepted, with a greater emphasis this year on farm equipment and machinery.
